Brian Dela Cruz

Brian Dela Cruz is a musician based in Salinas California. Having heard the psychedelic sounds of Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, and Syd Barrett in his early youth that would eventually blossom into a myriad of influences, he began his self taught recording career by plugging his guitar into a karaoke machine that was connected to his computer. He had become fascinated with the simple idea of recording sound.

He has played various instruments in several bands, providing drum beats for Monterey California based rock group Candyflip in 2008 and noise punk duo FAIDS in 2012. In that same year, he provided the bass guitar sounds for Seaside California based fuzz pop band Burnt Palms and experienced his first taste of traveling, recording, and performing in different cities around the US in studios such as Marlborough Farms in Brooklyn New York, and events such as SXSW in Austin Texas in 2016.

His main solo project Lazy Calm was created in 2008, initially inspired by dream pop, shoegaze, and post-rock. The project has since evolved into an experiment of improvised electronic manipulations, subtle edits, and freeform expression.
